What Is Lazy Loading and Why It Matters To Your SEO

Lazy loading refers to deferring loading of non-critical or non-visible content until the moment of need. This is a common website performance user-experience (UX) technique is used to improve page load speed and search ranking.

By using lazy loading, non-critical resources such as images and videos are only loaded by the browser when users are on the section of a page where the images or videos are.

Using lazy loading will let you:

  • Reduce initial page load since there are fewer resources on a page that needs to be loaded altogether.
  • Reduce bandwidth usage since the browser and webpage will only deliver content to users when the content is needed or requested.
  • Conserve system resource since only some of the images, JavaScript, and other codes are rendered or executed initially.

If you are want to use lazy loading for your WordPress website, download and active Lazy Load by WP Rocket plugin

By using the plugin, you can “display images and/or iFrames on a page only when they are visible to the user. This reduces the number of HTTP requests mechanism and improves the loading time.

This plugin works on thumbnails, all images in a post content or in a widget text, avatars, smilies and iframes. No JavaScript library such as jQuery is used and the script weight is less than 10KB.

You can also replace Youtube iframes by a preview thumbnail to further speed up the loading time of your website.”
